You're making an effort to be reasonable, but I have to protest this kind of thinking. In 1 Timothy, Paul doesn't make a special effort to regulate female apparel for all women in the future—letting men dress, it seems, however they please.
That was always dumb. The 1 Timothy letter is not a treatise on fashion. It has a context: an effort to preach the gospel in an area dominated by a goddess cult. These are practical issues related to ministry. Christian women are on the front lines of an area dominated by a goddess cult whose devotees dress very elaborately.
