The book of Genesis long pre-dates Christianity, so your talk of “the Church” being in charge of the text is just goofy.

Your claim is that a serpent in the story indicates all your own views…after you’ve rewritten it?

A snake is a common image in world mythology with many possible meanings. cf. Philip Slater's study "The Glory of Hera: Greek Mythology and the Greek Family" etc.
