What were Charles Stanley's political ideals? He was anti-Communist, which he probably associated with atheism. He was firmly a theocrat. He openly called for a nexxus between church and state, with political leaders required to demonstrate "Christian morals."
In 1980 he hosts a gathering of pastors to get politically motivated. A news story lists these issues in this order: The ERA. Abortion. Homosexuality. "Christian issues."
Since government is established by God, an attendee explains, its purpose is "to establish righteousness on earth," and Christians must work to that end.
