Well, the church seems to have taken the unusual view, for Evangelicals, that only sex acts constitute adultery. Thus the woman whose husband only looks at porn has no cause for divorce.

This gives Chandler great leeway, in his mind, to have emotionally sexy relationships while ruling them non-adulterous. I think that's the issue at stake.
