The traditional religions make use of homosexual people in many ways, and cannot afford to upset that basic need. Imaginatively porous, androgynous men and women, are used as servants & symbols.

Evangelicals found this out with Jim Elliot. There’ve been a million missionaries, but he was the one with charisma. Or Jim Bakker for Pentecostals. Neither men ever had actual power and were not theologians. They were window dressing for a tradition. They made the sale.

The traditions need their gays both as exemplars and as villains—and so must do the tricky dance to keep this system going. They have full knowledge.
