The new Republican path to victory: praying to the archangel Michael

Let’s look at Donald Trump’s latest strategy

Politicians often credit God for victories—and less often for defeats. But Donald Trump has an unusual new campaign strategy: pulling in a favor from the archangel Michael.

I’m catching up on religious themes in the 2024 campaign. On September 29th, Trump led his followers in a prayer to the Bible’s mighty presence.

“Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.”

The new Republican strategy? Get an angel to do some election interference.

In recent weeks, Trump has apparently had a religious awakening.

His wife Melania became a Catholic convert several years ago, but he seemed happy being very vaguely Protestant.

His religious views were rapidly changing, however, after the assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, in which he narrowly avoided death.

Or that’s been the story.
