The Martin thesis is a pretty big problem to New Testament theology — in saying that women have special theological conditions, in saying the ‘church’ area (in the sense of a temple worship space) has special theological conditions, in saying that nakedness is an affront, when it seems actually to be the Resurrected, Edenic state. Is Paul giving men policing power over women’s bodies? Is baptism, the mikveh, both done naked, now some kind of affront? Truly I am not seeing the appeal.
