The Christian education does train you to expect to be treated poorly. Only to learn later they just took an old book they couldn't read and used it as a weapon against children. David's line "I was sinful at birth" in Ps 51:5 likely refers to his mother not being Israelite. He has some different family status from his older brothers (cf. Ps 69:8; 1 Sam 16:11).
