The Bible is a colonized text. As with so many indigenous people it was prodded to do the work of Empire. Its actual identity was uninteresting to the colonialists. Having their power and resources enhanced by strapping the Bible into its harness, they would have no need to investigate it more deeply. Indeed that activity could register as a threat.
