Does any straight man have more close gay friends than C.S. Lewis?

Two Inklings had gay sons—Tolkien and Charles Williams. From a quick scan I hadn't seen that C.S. Lewis knew Michael Williams, who had a very messy coming out drama. Per Grevel Lindop's biography Charles Williams: the Third Inking, Michael got booted from the Royal Air Force after a sexual encounter with an American serviceman, then had some kind of nervous breakdown.
