Thanks for noting the use of Tobit for marriage ceremonies. Where the religions want to pass off the "canon" as Jesus whispering in their ears, what it comes down to is the use of biblical texts to manage populations. Tobit alone has a scene that kinda sorta maybe looks a little bit like a marriage ceremony (albeit with the woman being sold).
