It's been puzzling why a Republican website went after Bubba, a popular Republican mayor.
As I read your post, I realize that a more conservative Baptist might want to expose more "liberal" Baptists as not to them Christian at all.
The exposé on Bubba Copeland would then be part of the ongoing conservative crackdown within the SBC that I've been writing about.
