Thanks, but I'd dispute that Britain opposed Atlantic slavery on some kind of human rights logic. William Wilberforce was a crusader for "Christian morals." To purge slavery was to armor and consolidate whiteness, and also happened to serve the geopolitical aims of the British empire in its decline, including by re-framing America as less 'Christian'.
