My go-to on that point is Ann Nyland, the classical Greek scholar who did the "Source" New Testament translation. She says the Greek text in Titus 2:5 and Eph 5:22 says not "submit to your husbands" but "supporting one another."

But I'd note that Jesus is seen as a "husband" to the "bride of Christ" in a very real way. When spousal language is used, I suspect Jesus is the reference.
