Thank you, yes the Holy Spirit does feel maternal and comforting. I suspect the talk of the "Paraclete" or Holy Spirit was originally feminine and was changed.

I haven't written on the Ten Commandments yet. The commandment "Thou shalt not murder" couldn't be a universal moral law since God tells the Israelites to kill Caananites right and left!

I see the Ten Commandments as instructions for the Israelites in getting across the desert.
