Thank you. I have never seen that suggestion but now it seems quite plausible.

Leviticus 15:24 says a man having sex with a menstruating woman "will be unclean for seven days; any bed he lies on will be unclean."

In Leviticus 18:22, likewise, the "bed" seems to be the source of the impurity.
