Thank you for the reply. But why would I have ire for a "white atheist octogenerian"? I might just ask for leave to point out how much you're filling in blanks with assumptions.

You assume you know that the Bible is a Jewish version of Homer. You assume it encodes the ordinary assumptions of Jewish people. You assume those pertain only to "Jewish culture" and not relevant elsewhere.

You don't actually know any of these things.

What if the Bible was an effort by a mixed group of mostly Jewish psychics living in the desert, reading the books of many lands, seeking to revise them into riddles that will work on the readers to complicate thought processes and give birth to a heightened spiritual awareness?—whose largest intention is to get all humans of the earth of "love one another" (John 13:34)??

And say these complex texts were were given to a planet full of evil, violent animals called 'men'?

What would happen then?
