Thank you. I'm trying to figure out when conservative Protestants got political. Charles Stanley was talking up the idea in 1963.

Frank Schaeffer says that "politics was not something Christians did"—but Billy Graham considered a run for president in 1964. His wife talked him out of it.

So I take it that the interest was there, and it grew throughout the 1970s, flowering with Reagan.
