If God looks on the inside in 1 Sam 16:7, we couldn't overlook the references to David's physical appeal a few lines down in 16:12: "He was glowing with health and had a fine appearance and handsome features." This is not insignificant information.

Or note the Philistine leader addressing David in 1 Sam 29:9: “I know that you have been as pleasing in my eyes as an angel of God…"

I'm not finding a suggestion of a deity who is really indifferent to physical charms. It seems to be a God who is well-known to keep beauties around him.
