Let me give a shout out to "The Gospels," by Sarah Ruden. She's the famed translator of ancient Greek texts who was also Christian. She also knew that Christian translations of the Bible are grossly inaccurate. As she writes, the text has “fallen under the muffling, alien weight of later Christian institutions and had the life nearly smothered out of it.”

The mass-marketed "Christian" translations are manipulations which bear little resemblance to the text.
