It's an unacknowledged scandal of modern times: Bible scholars are realizing the Christian tradition didn't know how to read the Bible.

The tradition misdefined words. It adjusted context. It stripped meanings—to create a new reproductive religion, a religion of controlling sex.

So yes, it's helpful to say the Old Testament codes aren't for people to follow today. The larger point is: Christianity doesn't know how to read the Bible.
