Christians want everyone know the Olympics offended them

Let’s look at a religious uproar

--

Christianity is angry. This isn’t news, exactly, as the religion often is angry. But Christianity is currently angry at the Olympics in a very big way. They are very, very angry.

I’m following the drama following the opening ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris on Friday. Millions of Christians are flooding social media with outrage. I decided to go take a look.

It turns out they saw some drag queens.

The true horror, however, wasn’t drag queens.

What made it a Christian apocalypse was that the drag queens posed in a way that vaguely recalled Leonardo da Vinci’s painting The Last Supper.

So that was really, really, really bad, apparently.

A graphic evoking a comparison to Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper was widely circulated, so we’d be better able to see how the evil drag queens tried to defile the sacred Christian image.

That was the story they were telling.

The evil didn’t stop there.

Apparently, according to Christians, the Olympics opening ceremony was given over to various visual cues to evil, as were, according to them, done to upset and offend them.

There was, for example, that weird blue guy on a platter.

That golden bull head onstage was clearly…Moloch?
