I was reading some Bible stuff tonight & found myself in the theological Twilight Zone, and so immediately thought of you. I wondered if you'd have thoughts.

A scholar suggested in a brief passage that the New Testament writers see sex with angels as a possibility. The evidence for this view was as follows:

- In the NT, the angel sex of Genesis 6 seems to be a distinct possibility. Several references, including the enigmatic "because of the angels" in 1 Cor 11:10, would seem to suggest Genesis 6 was in view.

- The scholar takes the Sodom narrative to concern the sexual appeal of male angels.

- Hebrews 13:2 sees angels passing as humans and being in one's home, etc.

- Acts 12 seems to indicate that a human-like angel was seen.

The scholar then thinks that the apparent warnings against 'sexual immorality' in passages like 1 Cor 6:13 are guarding against sex with improper angels, as one's body now belongs to Jesus (1 Cor 6:15).

The new Christian seems to be understood as having sex with Jesus in references like 2 Cor 11:2 ("I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him"). But I am not sure that Jesus is seen as making some kind of reappearance. It might be some more subtler or perhaps just metaphoric interaction.
