I think the key to the Bible is to see God & the human community as conjoined in a way that is understood as sexual, using sexual language. From this marital embrace is meant to flow wisdom and enlightenment from God to the human community.
The word “revelation” is just the word ‘uncover’, as often used in biblical narratives at the onset of sex. I got this point from Shemaryahu Talmon, who writes:
One must consider the possibilities that the description of God’s covenant with Israel in words borrowed from the erotic and marital relationship between man and woman served as a connecting link between the secular and physical meaning and the range of connotations associated with ‘revelation.’
I wouldn’t imagine that Christians are having sex with God, but that is what ‘Revelation’ means. How does one suggest that Christians have sex with God? Perhaps it might begin by having sex with each other.
