I think the Bible is clear that God is male and female, so various appearances would be expected. Moses uses a female pronoun when speaking to God. There are many female appearances.
I was just reading a scholarly paper about the realization the Bible doesn't depict God as a "solitary divine ruler" but a "crowded cosmology, one that includes armies, stars, heavenly bodies, winds, rains, seasons, as well as anonymous assemblies, councils, and hosts."
