You know, I think we’re just learning to read. I mean that everything has been read wrong. History has to be rewritten. With rare exception, humans have just been going on hatred, animosities, all that us vs. them stuff.

So maybe we could say: we’re learning to read the Bible. At first one does get the overlay of Christian hatred, all those assertions they’re better than everyone, they’re saved, they’re getting Raptured, etc etc etc.—but underneath that, there’s a text they never really understood.
