I just don't see that the values or cosmology of the Bible are at all represented by Christianity, even minimally. The religion wanted to send people to Heaven and control people sexually and politically as the key preparatory practices. The actual sacrament observed in church is sitting in a pew and being subservient before a cleric.
I liked a point made in a Tolkien letter. He dismissed Protestantism and its goals: "Because 'primitive Christianity' is now and in spite of all 'research' will ever remain largely unknown…" I realized this was true. The epistles of the NT don't really describe what was done, and archaeological finds like the Dura Europos church & baptistery don't seem "Christian" in any recognized way. It's a lost practice.
