I didn't suggest that the Bible is irrelevant. I find it very inspiring. I only said that Christian tradition misread the reference to be a restriction on touching other people, i.e. "sex."

Spirituality isn't sex rules. But that has been the Christian idea. Even when Old Testament law allowed unmarried sex, divorce and polygamy, etc.

The Bible's spirituality has the deity seen in spousal terms. God is a husband. That's why there's sexual suggestion to terms around God, not because the deity is monitoring real-life sex.
