It's a jagged edge in the gospels, the frequent hints to Jesus having a Nazirite identity, but then it's all unexplained.

I've a hunch that the original depiction of Jesus had heavy reference to Samson, the original Nazirite, but Samson was read as a non-virtuous/sexual character so the references were gutted.
