Great piece. I was just reading a paper with a section on Lot & his daughters.

In the father’s house, the daughters are still bound by the law and rule of the father; in the cave, the father’s authority is usurped. In the first two scenes sexual intercourse is brought up, only to be denied; in the third it occurs twice, as if the repressed sexual desires of the previous scenes are transferred onto the third.

I sometimes ask, when reading biblical scenes where characters are doing evil, if a correct course, even if rejected, is visible. It strikes me just now as curious that there’s two daughters, and two angels.
