EE says in the preface to the published journal that she made several pages of cuts. I go over the sources here:

I'll leave a few notes here, putting out there the idea that a critical edition of Jim's journal would be very welcome. His extensive letters are often like extensions of the journal, more of his self-reflections, and when placed in chronology with the journal entries often clarify terms and narratives. With the letters the journal tells more of a story.

Also, several of his poems are dated and have autobiographical reference. His poems are really a part of his journal, even the core of it.

EE had a woman working with her transcribing the journal, but Lucinda McDowell is non-responsive to queries.

Also of note: Valerie Elliot Shepard gave an interview where she says she was searching for her father’s journal in her deceased mother’s house. She surely knew the journal was archived at Wheaton so I’ve wondered if she suspected there’d been more volumes.
