In 1958, a scholar from Columbia University named Morton Smith was in a monastery outside of Jerusalem. He noticed a 17th century book had, at the end, three pages of handwriting in Greek.
He began to read: “From the letters of the most holy Clement, the author of the Stromateis. To Theodore.”
